Visit to Marrakech - Day 2

in January 18, 2026

trip

On this day I decided to visit the desert and see the camels. I booked a tour with a guide, and there are so many small shops where it's possible to book, but I did it online. It's very easy.

In the morning I had time to visit the Souk again, stroll through different streets and see different shops. There are shops with fixed price and others where the price is negotiated, after reaching an agreement, one must take it. Otherwise the vendors get really offended.

I visited the square Jemaa el Fna in the morning. It was empty, except for juice carts. The juices are freshly made and very tasty. There were many horse carriages as well, but the animals didn't seem well cared for, so I didn't ride in any.

I had a good lunch and then left for the desert. The guide picked up almost 20 people and off we went.

The camels are large animals. I decided not to ride and stayed behind as my group headed into the desert, instead I went to give some apples I had bought earlier in the market. The men looking after the camels were nice and friendly, even without speaking English we were able to understand each other. In here I bought a scarf, blue. They said it was the most common color used, a really beautiful blue, and they put it on my head as is customary.

One of the men even gestured to me asking if I wanted photos with the camels, and I nodded yes. He took several photos without asking for money in return. It was pure kindness on his part.

The camels enjoyed the apples. They are tied up with ropes, unfortunately.

After the camel ride, we went to the place where we would have dinner and then watch the show.

It was also the place to take some photos of the desert at sunset. Our guide tour was a very good photographer and gave me excellent tips about a nice inexpensive Hammam.

The food was good, and made in clay dishes, Tagine.

Then there was music, dancing, and a fire show to finish.

We returned to the hotel at night.

A good night's sleep awaited me.
